GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The red glare of rockets – or fireworks – are lighting up the sky ahead of the 4th of July, but local health leaders remind everyone to celebrate their freedom carefully during the ongoing pandemic.
Bombs bursting in air will commemorate American independence this weekend, but it’s important to keep everyone’s freedom in mind while gathering to celebrate.
Prevea CEO Dr. Ashok Rai reminds everyone that guidelines are in place because the COVID-19 pandemic is still here, and the virus continues to infringe on some Americans’ rights to a healthy life.
“Keep it outside. Keep your groups less than ten. Keep your distance. Those are all things, but you can still have a good time, celebrate the country, and still keep us healthy – because that’s what’s necessary for us to be a successful country,” Rai tells the WTAQ Morning News with Matt and Earl.
But Rai is aware that not everyone will choose to abide by those recommendations.
“You can’t really control every other’s behavior but if everybody would just take some personal responsibility for their own and try to do their best,” Rai says, “If you’re in a situation where you’re not comfortable or you realize there’s only more people here than there maybe should be – take that responsibility and leave. Keep yourself healthy so you don’t infect somebody else.”
