GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – There was large police presence at Seymour Park following a shooting on Green Bay’s near west side on Friday.
Green Bay police say the 911 call came in between 9-9:30 p.m. on Friday night.
Capt. Ben Allen says police are still trying to confirm injuries.
“At this point we believe, and I have not talked to the officers or detectives who are at the hospital, but some of the information I’m getting is that there was one fatality involved, and two that are injured,” says Allen.
Crime tape is surrounding the park’s shelter and squad cars with their lights on are parked up and down area streets. Allen said several paper cups at the scene all represent shell casings.
Allen says, “This was supposed to be some kind of birthday party or celebration in the park so a lot of people were attending this.”
Police say they have some persons of interest. They don’t believe the public is in any danger.
Allen says, “This was probably something targeted where people knew each other like we typically see here in Green Bay.”
The Green Bay Police Department is asking people to avoid the area because streets will be blocked off for an extended amount of time.
FOX 11 has a crew on scene, working to find out details surrounding the shooting.
