GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Packers fans are excited for a chance to come back to Lambeau.
“We had a group of about 25 people waiting to get in as soon as we opened the doors,” said Derek Dimmer, Pro Shop manager.
“Today’s a good first step and we’re taking it with an abundance of caution and preparation and keeping safety in mind of our team as well is all of our guests,” said Packers Director of Public Affairs Aaron Popkey.
Dimmer tells FOX 11 the Pro Shop is allowed eight employees to work at one time.
“We’ve got plexiglass, we’ve got hand sanitizer, we’ve got a single entry and a single exit trying to minimize as much touching as possible. Closed off our fitting rooms, just taking all the precautionary measures to keep everyone safe.”
The Pro Shop is requiring visitors of the Pro Shop to wear a mask or face covering.
Next month, the preseason usually kicks off with the annual Shareholder’s meeting, but Popkey tells FOX 11 a date hasn’t been set.
“We’re still making plans there with respect to how that’s going to take place, being an in-person event, we’ve been doing a webcast now for five years so we certainly have that capability if the decision is to that route.”
Following that comes Training Camp, the closest fans can get to the their favorite Packers.
“Where do we think we’ll be come July? What protocols and procedures could be in place to be able to have fans and that type of thing,” said Popkey. “We know as we get a little bit further into the summer, fans are also making plans. We do have that in mind, but we would ask fans to prepare with us and know some of those things could be last minute just based on conditions and what best practices and the latest knowledge is.”
Decisions are expected to be made within the next couple of weeks.
