APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A competency review has not been completed yet for a man accused in the stabbing death of a 3-year-old girl.
Demetrius Williams faces three charges: first degree intentional homicide, attempted homicide, and attempted homicide of an unborn child, for the Feb. 26 incident.
The issue is whether Williams understands the proceedings and can assist in his own defense. It does not address his mental state at the time of the incident.
Earlier this month, a doctor recommended additional assessment be completed. Wednesday’s hearing was scheduled knowing it might not be completed by today, and it was not. Another hearing is set for May 13.
Williams allegedly killed Zyana Corbin, and stabbed her mother, Tiana. Tiana is pregnant with Williams’ child. Williams became upset when she said she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him.
