TOWN OF PESHTIGO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Two people had to be rescued off the bay after falling through the ice late Saturday afternoon.
The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department reports emergency crews were dispatched to the area near Pond Road just before 4 p.m. for a report of a snowmobiler who had gone through the ice.
The victims were located about a mile off the shore with one person still in the water when rescue crews arrived.
Fire officials say both people were brought to shore and taken to an ambulance.
People are strongly encouraged to stay off the ice due to the warming temperatures and unsafe ice conditions.
