GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A fight between a group of Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles fans was caught on camera during Thursday night’s game. The video has already gotten thousands of likes and shares on social media.
“Holy cow! Hey that’s a really good way to show your win,” he said. “It’s generally family-friendly and everyone has a good time. So they pretty much tainted it for everyone who was there for the right reasons.”
During Thursday night’s game, police say there were 29 ejections, eight arrests and officers used a Taser on at least one person. Some people are blaming Eagles fans for the increase in arrests, and say they aren’t too surprised by their unruly behavior.
“I saw some arguing last night with Eagles but I expect it, ” said Todd Rizzardi. “Not here though, all I hear are good things about this place.”
But Cmdr. Paul Ebel from the Green Bay Police Department has a different perspective on the fight and said Eagles fans can’t be the only ones to blame.
“Quite frankly, it’s the alcohol and it’s becoming more acceptable to not do anything. You saw the behavior of the fans getting in front of the camera and it’s unacceptable behavior. I don’t know where our society went wrong in that,” said Ebel.
Ebel said everyone involved in this fight was arrested and hopes this serves as an example of how not to act at future games.
“Obviously we don’t want something like this to happen, but if it does we will respond,” he said.
