GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – While watching communities across the state restrict or ban vaping, one Green Bay alderman isn’t expecting anything to happen in the city.
Alderman Bill Galvin says he wants to see the action taken at a higher level.
“I am disappointed in the federal government because this is basically trying to close the barn door after the horses have all left,” he said. “This is also something that I thought at the state level, this is something that someone would have championed awhile ago.
Galvin says he has heard first hand that vaping is common and one teacher informed him that it happens a lot at one of the public schools.
“I have a son-in-law that teaches and he says it is everywhere in the school.”
He says all it takes is for someone to take issue with it.
“I am surprised that nobody has come up and said anything.”
He says in many cases, it is parent organizations or school organizations that have been addressing the issue.
He says he would rather see action be taken by lawmakers at the federal or state level.
