GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. in Greenville is creating more jobs in the Fox Cities.
The company is expanding its operations at Appleton International Airport.
Gulfstream showed off its new $40 million facility at a Friday ribbon-cutting.
“We’ve found the state of Wisconsin has been a great place for us to do business,” said the president of Gulfstream Customer Support Derek Zimmerman.
“As our fleet grows, we want to continue to grow our service capacity here in Appleton.”
The nearly 190,000-square-foot building allows Gulfstream to expand maintenance, repair and overhaul operations at the airport.
And with over 100,000 square feet of hangar space, it can hold 12 of Gulfstream’s largest jets.
Zimmerman tells FOX 11 this is one of the most significant expansions and is a tremendous asset to the site, as well as the community.
Local and state leaders were among those in attendance Friday.
“Their company, their presence, their commitment to our area here this is a great thing for our economy,” State Sen. Roger Roth, R-Appleton said.
“We’re just excited to be able to partner with somebody like Gulfstream, and make this happen.”
The addition was projected to create about 200 jobs.
Zimmerman says about 100 have been added already.
“The facility is just coming online so, now that we’ve got a little bit more room to expand, I think we’ve got about another 100 open requisitions out right now.”
Most of those jobs will be technician and support jobs.
“It’s their work, and their reputation; workforce development that, I think, puts us head and shoulders across any of other facilities in the country,” Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson said.
Gulfstream is expected to receive more than a million dollars in state tax-credits for this expansion.
