NEW LONDON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The New London Fire Department says a multi-unit home, on 200 W. Beacon Ave., caught fire Saturday morning.
According to the department, a woman in one unit got out of the home safely with her three children and another woman in the second unit of the home managed to get out with her child and dog.
Officials say a man on a motorcycle told both women about the fire.
Firefighters saw flames burning up the wall on the outside of the New London duplex.
Flames also burned the attic and inside walls of the home.
The New London Fire Department goes on to say no one was hurt.
One person living in the home told firefighters they smoke outside and put cigarette butts in a plastic flower pot sitting on a wooden deck near the wall. The person went on to say that could’ve been the cause of the fire.
The department says the duplex was damaged by fire and water and can’t be lived in.
