GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – An eleven-month-old boy has died after a fire broke out at a Green Bay east side home.
According to Green Bay Metro Fire, six others were injured, but are safe.
At around 7 a.m. Friday morning, crews were called to the home at 2519 Wisconsin Avenue for reports of smoke and flames and a child trapped on the second floor.
Officials say six people were able to make it out of the home once firefighters arrived.
Crews quickly put out the fire and the child was brought out through a bedroom window.
According to firefighters, the child was taken to the hospital, while the six other people were evaluated for smoke inhalation.
The fire caused about $75,000 worth of damage to the house and a stretch of East Shore Drive was closed as crews fought the fire, but it was able to reopen around 10 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
