GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The British are coming!
And they’ve landed in downtown Green Bay.
The area is undergoing quite a transformation this week and already the changes are noticeable.
“So to kick things off, we have renamed City Deck Court to Abbey Road,” explains Kathryn Kroll, Marketing Manager with Downtown Green Bay Inc.
That change took place on Wednesday and will remain in place until Monday.
Parked on Abbey Road are a number of vehicles that originated over the pond.
Perhaps most striking, is a Volkswagon bus clad with Beatles quotes and plenty of tie-dye.
“And actually that VW bus, everything is hand-painted on there,” explains Kroll. “So it’s truly an original.”
For those looking to check it out, they can look (but not touch) this upcoming Friday.
“These will be back Friday, for Friday’s on the Fox, as well,” she says.
In fact, Friday will be quite the British bash.
“Abbey Road” is being painted to reflect the iconic Beatles album cover, which will allow residents a unique photo opportunity.
Additionally, Beatles tribute band “The BriTins” will be performing on the city deck for the first Friday’s on the Fox of the season.
The BriTins are set to perform from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Also getting in on the British flare is the Titletown District.
On Friday night from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. BritBeat, another Beatles tribute band, will perform a free concert in the Titletown Plaza.
Fish and chips will be available for purchase.
The week culminates when Paul McCartney takes the stage at Lambeau Field on Saturday starting at 8 p.m.
