OCONTO, WI (WTAQ) – An Oconto man will spend ten years behind bars for causing a fatal car crash.
22-year-old Eric Solomon was sentenced on Monday after being convicted of second-degree reckless homicide for his role in a September 11 crash.
Solomon was in an argument with his girlfriend, who was driving, when he grabbed the wheel of the vehicle, caused her to lose control, and the vehicle crashed into another, killing Cory Folts.
At Monday’s sentencing, Solomon was also placed on extended supervision for ten years by Judge Michael Judge.
Solomon’s girlfriend, Kelly Crispin, is scheduled to stand trial September 4 on three counts, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
Police say that both Solomon and Crispin had been drinking.
The judge was allowed to consider that information, even though Solomon was not convicted of any intoxicated-related charges.
