MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Manitowoc Police Department is investigating gunshots near a local tavern.
Officers were conducting a traffic stop on the 800 block of Washington Street around 2:00 a.m. when they heard the shots.
Crews arrived to find several people fighting in the area. Officers stopped a vehicle that was leaving the scene.
The vehicle’s passenger was identified, and admitted to firing several rounds from his handgun in the air to stop the fight.
The 23-year-old Manitowoc man is now in custody.
Police do not believe anyone was injured by the gunfire.
