WAUPACA COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A Waupaca County man convicted for a fatal hit and run traffic crash was sentenced to five years in prison on Tuesday.
47-year-old Michael Pribbernow is also being placed on extended supervision for five years.
The body of 18-year-old Tim Cruse II was found by police on July 28 in Farmington.
Cruse II was walking on the road and was struck by a westbound vehicle, which did not stop, according to police.
Pribbernow was arrested for the crash several weeks later.
An Alford plea was previously entered by Pribbernow to two counts: hit & run involving death, and OWI 3rd.
The suspect maintains his innocence, but acknowledges the state has enough evidence to obtain a conviction in an Alford plea.
Counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and knowingly operating with a revoked license were considered at sentencing, but eventually dismissed.
