GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – You can now get a look inside of the recently reopened Hotel Northland in Downtown Green Bay without even having to stay a night.
That’s because the hotel is now offering a schedule for tours of the 95-year-old building, which will be available on the first and 10th days of every month, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Reservations are not required for the tours, which will take individuals through the lobby, Walnut Room restaurant, the Crystal Ballroom, meeting spaces, fitness center, a standard king room, and a suite.
“The Hotel Northland is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and we welcome visitors to take it all in,” general manager John Williams says in a news release. “Our hotel’s ambassadors will gladly show guests and members of the community around this beautiful property pointing out the many elements of vintage charm that’s now complemented by modern luxury.”
Since the hotel was home to Green Bay Packers players and visiting teams also stayed there for several decades, the schedule has been based on a football-themed mnemonic, “First and Ten at 10 and 1.”
The Hotel Northland, which is located at 304 N. Adams St., officially reopened last month.
The building had been a city-owned home for low-income and disabled residents.
Previously, it hadn’t operated as a hotel since 1979.
The time from when Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt first floated the idea of turning the building back into a hotel to its ribbon-cutting on Valentine’s Day lasted around a decade.
