KING, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – As part of a national effort to help honor those who served, a Waupaca teen got a special Christmas gift Saturday.
Chloe Heisler and her family, joined veterans and community members, at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
They laid wreaths for veterans as part of national “Wreaths Across America Day.”
Heiser raised money to help buy the wreaths.
She said she was happy to see all of the people come out and help the veterans.
“I didn’t think that there would be this many people, honestly. Last year, it was a really bad snowstorm, so not a lot of people showed up, so this is fantastic,” said Chloe Heisler.
This year, Heisler said that she helped raise about $2,000 for wreaths.
In the four years of the event, they raised enough money to lay wreaths on all 7,274 graves.
