CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) – The Chicago Bears clinched their first NFC North Division title since 2010 Sunday via a 24-17 win over the Green Bay Packers Sunday.
In the win, the Bears managed to keep Aaron Rodgers in check as the Packers QB threw his first interception since Week 4 against Buffalo. Rodgers finished the contest 25-42 for 274 yards and no touchdowns. Jamaal Williams provided the lone offensive TD for the Packers with a 10-yard scamper in the third quarter.
A two-point conversion from Rodgers to Davante Adams tied the score at 14 for the moment before the Bears would run off 10 straight points to put the game out of reach.
Williams finished with 12 carries for 55 yards and one score. Adams was the leading receiver for the Packers with 8 catches on 13 targets for 119 yards.
Bears QB Mitch Trubisky eliminated any doubts about his health early in the game by engineering a 9 play, 60-yard drive late in the first quarter that ended with a 9-yard run from Jordan Howard to give Chicago an early 7-0 lead. Trubisky finished the game with two touchdown passes to Tarik Cohen and Trey Burton.
Mason Crosby added three field goals for the Packers in the loss.
Green Bay falls to 5-8-1 on the season while the Bears are now 10-4. If the playoffs started today Chicago would be the 3rd seed in the NFC.
The Packers travel to the New York Jets next Sunday, the Bears head west to take on the floundering San Francisco 49ers.
