OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – Oshkosh Police are investigating the deaths of two children in less than 24-hours in the city of Oshkosh.
“It’s been a really bad two days for the city of Oshkosh.”
A 2-month-old child died at a local hospital after officers were called to the 500 block of West 8th Avenue Thursday evening.
“It was originally dispatched as a medical call,” Officer Kate Mann said.
A 27-year-old male determined to be the father of the child is in custody for 1st-degree reckless homicide.
An autopsy is being performed Friday.
Around 7:30 a.m. Friday, officers were dispatched for a medical call on the 1600 Block of Sanders St. were a three-year-old girl was found deceased.
“We are just calling it a death investigation at this point,” said Mann.
The two deaths are not related.
It is not known if any other children were in either home.
“It’s hard for everyone involved from family members to police officers to firefighters that responded, a lot of people are affected and that affects our community too, especially around the holidays.”
Both incidents remain under investigation by Oshkosh Police.
