GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ)- In August, The Town of Greenville will be asking for help in building a new fire and safety building.
Voters in Greenville will be asked to approve a 6.5 million dollar referendum to build a larger building which allows for better safety for equipment and those who use it.
“Making sure that we provide space for decontaminating equipment and personnel, and then space to safely store equipment.”
Town Administrator Joel Gregozeski says it is important for the community to know why it is needed, and one of big reasons is for the safety of those who help the community.
“Cancer is one, if not the highest cause of death for firefighters in the line of duty. Having those contaminants on their close is a threat to them and to their families.”
Gregozeski says they will start engaging with the public.
“We will have a variety of public engagement sessions with the first one being Tuesday June 5th.”
The referendum will be on the ballot in August.
