MADISON, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) A plea hearing is set for a Madison man accused of blowing up his house to hide the murder of his wife. 60-year-old Steven Pirus will be in court April 30th to answer charges of first-degree intentional homicide, arson and recklessly endangering safety.
Court records show Pirus admitted to investigators that he shot his wife Lee Anne in the head, saying she asked him to kill her. An autopsy suggests that she was killed up to a month earlier. Last September there was an explosion at the family’s home on Stratton Way.
A plea hearing indicates it is likely Pirus will reach an agreement with prosecutors where he will plead guilty to some or all of the charges. The hearing is scheduled for April 30. If a plea agreement isn’t reached, jury selection in his trial will begin July 30.
