OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – One man is dead and another is injured after a stabbing Friday morning in Oshkosh.
The incident happened in the 500 block of Mt. Vernon Street shortly after 2 a.m.
18-year-old Noah Williams was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining multiple stab wounds.
Police say the event stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong.
A second victim, 18-year-old Trei Applebey, was taken to the hospital with multiple stab wounds.
Oshkosh Police Chief Dean Smith says the two victims were roommates.
A 3rd person, a 17-year-old believed to be the suspect, is in custody.
“We do believe that he did come there for a drug deal, and we believe that he was the one that stabbed the deceased victim,” Smith said.
Police Chief Dean Smith said the suspect also had a stab wound, but it is not known how that occurred.
He said they are still investigating to find out who the aggressor was and have located multiple knives, but are still unsure of the weapons used.
He says the fact that this stemmed from drugs, is concerning.
“There are a lot of issues that occur with drug dealing.”
Valarie Kempen lives below Williams and Applebey, and said the disturbance woke her up.
“I was terrified and I did not know what was going on. They were yelling and screaming and I was home alone and did not know what to do. To be woken up by something like this was pretty terrifying for me.”
Police believe that incident is isolated.
