MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – More time has been requested to file arguments for Steven Avery’s appeal to the state Court of Appeals.
Avery’s attorney is asking to have the deadline moved from March 30 to May 21, after the court extended the initial deadline from January 19.
Avery continues to challenge his conviction for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.
He is currently serving a life sentence.
Avery’s nephew, Brendan Dassey, is also serving a life sentence for Halbach’s death. His attorney is petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court to take the case.
