HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) – Christmas in the rearview mirror, the new year just days away. For some that means a resolution to get in better shape. But many fall short, giving up within weeks. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Kim Elsing is a personal trainer at the Greater Green Bay YMCA.
She says one big reason people don’t follow through on the get in shape resolution is….
“If they don’t get really specific about what actually means, what it is, and what that actually looks like.”
Setting a realistic goal, how you’re going to get there, and how long it will take.
A personal trainer or exercise group provides support like education and accountability. Elsing hears about it all the time…
“If it wouldn’t;t have the appointment I wouldn’t have come in. It’s that accountability, it’s kind of having some skin in the game because you’re paying for a service and if you don’t show up for it you’re wasting your money.”
Elsing adds there’s times you might fail….and that’s OK.
“and it’s really not falling off the wagon that is going to be your demise. It’s what you’re going to do when you do fall off.”
The Greater Green Bay YMCA is one place you can get solid information and support to help make sure your healthy 2018 resolution is a success.
