GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Brown County Drug Task Force says someone apparently made meth in a Green Bay park, and they’re afraid that person may do it again.
The Task Force found items believed to have been used to “cook” meth dumped along a walking trail at Fireman’s Park, 1703 W. Mason St.
Investigators shared photos of the items, which included drain cleaner and a package of pseudoepehdrine decongestant tablets.
The used products were found earlier this month.
Brown County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Kevin Kinnard says that while they’re not positive, the meth was likely cooked right in the park.
“There’s less risk if you do that in a more remote location, and you’re not doing it inside your house with a chance of starting a fire inside your house or being overcome by the fumes.”
Kinnard notes these devices have become less popular in recent years, with this being just the second one they’ve seen in 2017.
“What’s happened over the last couple of years is that most of the meth we see in Northeast Wisconsin is being supplied from ‘super labs’ from the cartel that was either in Mexico or South America.”
Officials say there’s a danger of fire and explosion with products used to make meth. Anyone who comes across similar trash should be careful.
Kinnard adds “the container or cooking vessel, the one pot, will continue to cook. If you have a child come along and collect that or touch that, they open the cap, it could spray out chemicals on them. Not to mention, (the person responsible) is leaving basically hazardous waste in the park.”
