APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The City of Appleton is looking to do a better job of reaching people through social media.
Communications Coordinator Chad Doran explains the point of the 20-question survey.
“(The goal is) figuring out what platforms people are using from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube. We really want to hone in on what platforms our residents are using and really try to look at what they are using them for.”
While most questions are multiple choice, Doran notes one is open ended.
“What do they want to see from us on those platforms? What kind of information do they want us to provide them?”
Doran says they’ve already received multiple suggestions.
“We know residents want to hear more about traffic and construction projects that we have going on. They want to hear about people that work here for the city, sort of behind the scenes, what sort of jobs we actually have and what people are doing with tax money.”
Doran says the annual survey was conducted for the first time in 2016, noting some of the feedback has been implemented.
“One of the biggest ones was just how many people here in Appleton are using Facebook. We sort of put a premium with our departments to focus our efforts on Facebook.”
You can access the survey until September 22 by clicking here or visiting the city’s social media sites.
