GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A standoff situation came to a peaceful end early Tuesday morning after Green Bay Police responded to a home for a welfare complaint.
The incident happened at 324 S. Webster Ave. where a man was armed with a gun and wouldn’t come out.
Captain Kevin Warych says neighbors were asked to stay inside for a period of time.
“Officers learned there was weapons involved and they had confirmed there was a weapon inside. The individual chose not to come out after responding officers were trying to negotiate with the male to have him come out of the house.”
The SWAT team was sent in Monday around 9:30 p.m.
“(The SWAT) was able to secure the perimeter around that residence to make sure neighbors and the surrounding community was safe and was able to eventually make contact with that individual and negotiate,” Warych said.
After 5 hours, the 37-year-old man surrendered.
He was evaluated and taken to the Brown County Jail for failure to comply.
