ARCADIA, WI (WSAU) Ashley Furniture is building a new facility in Western Wisconsin.
Governor Walker was on hand yesterday to break ground on the new e-commerce distribution center in Arcadia. Walker said, “This is about a distribution center that will help them meet the business needs of keeping up with online purchases, really putting them at the forefront of the furniture industry around the country and around the world.”
The company will spend $30-million to build the new facility, and will add 500,000-square feet of technology and storage space. 5,000 people already work at the site. When complete, another 450 jobs will be added.
Founder and Chairman Ron Wanek said the new facility represents an entirely different way of processing on-line orders. He said the changes are needed to keep up with e-commerce rivals like Amazon.
Ashley has been in Arcadia since 1970.
