HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) – Brown County sheriff’s officials said crews responded to a fire on the 1500 block of Pinecrest Road just after midnight, Sunday.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and nine fire departments responded, including dozens of firefighters. The fire chief said multiple units responded because fire crews did not have access to a water source.
A barn and other farm-related buildings were destroyed in the fire, according to Don Phillips, the Village of Howard Fire Department chief.
Officials said there were reports of animals inside the barn, but their status is unclear. The owner said some of the swine on his property may have died in the fire, and he has not located some of his cattle.
The farm owner told WLUK, he and his daughter are safe and unharmed.
Sheriff’s officials said the American Red Cross is assisting with this incident.
