The first State High School champions of the year were crowned Tuesday at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison at the W.I.A.A. Girls State Golf Tournament.
Both team champions in Division 1 and 2 were runaway winners. Hartland Arrowhead won the team title by 51 strokes in Division 1 and The Prairie School made it back to back titles in Division 2 with a 50 shot victory.
De Pere finished 11th and Notre Dame 12th in the D1 Field.
Fox Valley Lutheran was 4th in D2.
The individual medalist in Division 1 was Emily Lauterbach of Arrowhead who shot a -2, 142 over the 36 holes. Katie Warpinski of Green Bay Preble was the top local finsher at +15 159, good for a tie for 14th place. Warpinski improved by five shots in the second round with a 77. Annie Schneider paced De Pere with a tie for 39th and Emily Smits was the highest finisher for Notre Dame tying for 47th place.
In Division 2, Sarah Busey of Racine St. Catherine’s earned gold with a two day total of +7, 151, four shots in front of Lori Meyer of Freedom. The first round leader shot 81 on Tuesday to conclude her career with a third straight, top 10 finish. Meyer placed sixth two years ago and fifth last fall. Fox Valley Lutheran had two girls finish in the top ten with Meagan Glaeser coming in sixth and Erika Priebe tying for 9th place.
