APLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Rallies were held across the country Thursday as part of “National Gun-Violence Awareness Day.”
One of those rallies was held in Appleton with people decked out in orange as a show of support.
Charles Branstron, a pro-gun supporter, says guns are not the problem, it’s the people holding the guns that are.
“think guns can be like anything else, they can be used correctly and incorrectly”
But backers of the “Wear Orange” movement, like Charles Mark, say the rally isn’t about making stricter gun-control laws, but keeping guns out the hands of the wrong people.
“I don’t know that we necessarily need tougher gun control laws, until you get to the point of who has access to them”
More than a dozen people marched downtown Appleton as part of the “Wear Orange” movement. Across the country more than 180 events were planned.
