GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Green Bay Police Department is helping landlords become more educated about their jobs and provide a better place for tenants to live.
The training program called “Keeping Illegal Activity out of your Rental Property” will be held on Wednesday, May 18th at 307 S. Adams Street.
Michelle Belongie is a crime analyst with the department and says it’s about keeping neighborhoods safe.
“Our focus is keeping illegal activity out of rental properties and keeping our neighborhoods peaceful and maintaining a high quality of life in the neighborhoods.”
Belongie says they will cover many issues during the 4 hour training session.
“The inspection department is discussing some things. We’ll have an officer presenting issues; we’ll talk about what to look for in terms of drug activity, how do deal with issues at your property, what resources we have, how to monitor police calls to your property.”
Local officers get called out on a lot of landlord-tenant issues.
“The low level drug stuff, the noise complaints, the animal issues, just the people not getting along,” says Belongie.
The free training will take place at the Green Bay Police Department from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
