APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Appleton police say a fake bomb near some railroad tracks caused a scare Wednesday morning.
Authorities say a Canadian National Railway employee found the device while inspecting the tracks near W. Second and S. Outagamie streets around 11:20 a.m.
The employee called the cops, who responded to the scene along with firefighters and ambulance crews. The device looked like road fuses taped together with a watch face attached. It appears to have been there for some time.
The Outagamie County Bomb Squad was called in to dismantle the item and confirm it to be a fake.
