MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – The Wisconsin Senate will vote on a bill Tuesday to make it easier for private companies to own municipal water supplies.
The firm of Aqua America asked for the bill, which is among dozens of measures up for approval in both houses.
The Senate will also take up bills to allow development on dry lake beds, prohibit counties from setting development moratoriums, let landlords evict tenants for criminal activity, and end the 33-year-old state moratorium on new nuclear power plants.
The Assembly, meanwhile, is scheduled to meet until 1 a.m. Wednesday as it scrambles to finish its two-year session this week.
The lower house will vote on the governor’s college affordability plan and bills to allow online voter signups while banning deputies who hold group registration drives — set tougher penalties for repeat drunk drivers — ban “sanctuary cities” that attract illegal immigrants — and increase funds for drug treatment programs.
