HOBART, WI (WTAQ) – The Village of Hobart will get about $15,700 from the federal government for not making timely responses to their open records requests.
Both parties agreed to drop the lawsuit with the payment one of the provisions, according to court documents filed Wednesday in federal court.
The village sued the U.S. Department of Interior in March 2015, arguing that Freedom of Information Act requests had not been filled dating back to July 2014.
Hobart officials were seeking information about what land within its boundaries had been placed in trust status by the Oneida Tribe of Indians. They also were looking for correspondence between the tribe and federal government on the topic.
