On Friday, Brown County Judge Tammy Jo Hock handed down that sentence to 32-year-old Jafari Mahonie. Mahonie, who will also spend 10 years on extended supervision, pled guilty to 4 heroin delivery charges and no contest to 2 others.
Mahonie must also pay $16,580 in restitution to the Brown County Drug Task Force.
During Friday’s sentencing hearing, Green Bay Police Department Detective Phillip Scanlan testified that wiretaps were used to help with the lengthy investigation and also get more info about heroin being sold in Brown County.
Mahonie’s attorney, John Birdsall, had argued that his client is not a ringleader and should be sentenced to just 6 to 8 years in prison.
