BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Drivers in Brown County may get one ramp along Interstate 41 back open, but will lose others for a year.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the on-ramp from Velp Avenue to northbound I-41 is expected to reopen Tuesday. The ramp had been closed since July for reconstruction.
DOT officials also say two ramps at the I-41/I-43 interchange and one at the I-41/Velp Avenue interchange will close on October 23.
I-41/I-43/Velp Ave. ramp closure and detour information:
Southbound I-41 to southbound I-43 ramp CLOSED between Friday, Oct. 23 and Sept. 2016.
- Southbound I-41 traffic seeking southbound I-43 will be detoured south on I-41 to eastbound WIS 172, and take WIS 172 east to I-43.
Northbound I-43 to southbound I-41 ramp CLOSED between Friday, Oct. 23 and Sept. 2016.
- Northbound I-43 traffic seeking southbound I-41 will be detoured north on I-41 to Lineville Road, and take Lineville west to the southbound I-41 on-ramp.
Southbound I-41 off-ramp to Velp Avenue (US 141) CLOSED between Friday, Oct. 23 and Oct. 2016.
- Southbound I-41 traffic seeking southbound US 141/Velp Avenue will follow the US 141 detour south to Shawano Avenue, take Shawano east to Military Avenue, and Military north to Velp Avenue (US 141).
DOT officials warn the ramp closures will push extra traffic onto I-41 and Highways 172 and 141. Drivers should expect delays on southbound I-41.
Plans call for the I-41/I-43 ramps to be replaced with free-flow ramps, reopening next September. The rebuilt Velp Avenue off-ramp is expected to reopen next October.
