GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Green Bay man accused of killing his dogs and setting his home on fire will stand trial.
Online court records indicate 53-year-old Paul Phillips waived his preliminary hearing on Thursday. He’ll be arraigned on one count of arson and 8 counts of mistreating animals on December 14.
Police were called to Phillips’ home on Klaus Street on September 13. He told officers that he set the fire to kill himself and to get rid of his dogs.
According to the criminal complaint, fire investigators found 3 independent fires in Phillips’ home. One was on the stove involving a pot of burning grease, one was in the oven with a pot containing blackened dog food and a gas-soaked couch with gas cans nearby.
