MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – Last week, law enforcement agencies took part in the FBI’s ninth annual “Operation Cross Country”.
That included several in Northeast Wisconsin, like the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Appleton Police Department, Oshkosh Police Department and the Fond du Lac Police Department.
The effort targeted human trafficking operations.
According to a release from the FBI’s Milwaukee office, 10 adults considered victims were recovered in Brown County and 3 traffickers were arrested.
In Appleton, one adult was recovered and one trafficker was arrested. An adult and a juvenile victim were recovered in Fond du Lac, with one trafficker being arrested. While in Oshkosh, three adults were recovered and one trafficker was arrested.
FBI officials say Wisconsin tied for 3rd in the nation in total number of juvenile victims recovered with 9. Denver led the nation with 20.
149 underage trafficking victims were recovered nationwide, while 153 pimps were arrested during the initiative last week.
