SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ) – A storm packing wind gusts approaching 50 miles an hour suspended play at the PGA Championship Friday.
Winds were strong enough to knock over the main scoreboard.
Seven players had at least a share of the lead during a wild day of competition before Mother Nature interceded. Jason Day and Matt Jones topped the leaderboard at 9-under par when players were moved off the course.
Madison golfer Steve Stricker completed 18 holes with an even-par round. He is 1-under par for the tournament and is tied for 41st.
Club pros Ryan Helminen of Appleton and Brent Snyder of Hudson missed the cut.
