GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – An inmate who escaped from a jail in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula was spotted in Green Bay on Saturday morning.
According to Green Bay police, John Wesley Saatio was seen near the intersection of Military Avenue and Mason Street around 9:35 a.m. He escaped from the Houghton County Jail
Officers descended on the area and saw Saatio nearby, but he took off running and got away. Saatio was last seen near Gross Avenue and Langlade Avenue around 10:45 a.m.
Police say Saatio stole a gray 1995 Subaru Legacy with a damaged tail light and a lot of rust with Michigan license plate DBF1524. That vehicle was found near West Mason St. and I-41 around 8 p.m.
Authorities are asking everyone to make sure their vehicles are locked and not to leave the keys inside them. If anyone sees Saatio or the Subaru Legacy, please do not approach him and immediately call 911.
