Green Bay continued it’s dominance on the home floor by defeating in-state rival Milwaukee 81-70 before 4693 at the Resch Center Thursday night. The Phoenix roared out of the gate scoring the first six points of the game swelling the lead to 29-6 after 11 minutes and 42-20 by halftime. The lead reached 31 midway through the second half before Milwaukee (9-15) tried to rally. Alfonzo McKinnie admittedly had his best night in a Phoenix uniform with a career high 23 points with several highlight reel dunks to go along with 10 rebounds. Carrington Love added 19 and Keifer Sykes scored 12 on just 6 of 16 shooting. It was enough to have Sykes vault past Jeff Nordgaard (1910 career points) and Dennis Woelffer (1916) into second place on the Green Bay all time scoring list with 1922 points. He trails only former NBA player and current University of Virginia Head Coach Tony Bennett. Matt Tiby led the Panthers with 22, 20 coming in the second half. Former Pulaski standout Cody Wichman added 11. The Phoenix is now 11-0 at home while Milwaukee is 0-11 on the road. The victory pulls Green Bay back even with Cleveland State and Valparaiso in the Horizon Conference standings with 8-2 records, the Phoneix is 19-5 overeall, They won’t play again until next Wednesday night on the road at Youngstown State.
