BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A 24-year-old Green Bay man has been charged in an alleged deadly drugged driving crash.
Jonathan Mateo faces felony counts of Second Degree Reckless Homicide and Vehicular Homicide with the use of a Controlled Substance and one misdemeanor count of Operating with a Restricted Controlled Substance.
Mateo reportedly had THC in his system during the August 28 high-speed Glenmore accident that killed his girlfriend, 19-year-old Samantha Rodriguez, who was ejected from the vehicle.
The 24-year-old was reportedly driving at speeds near 90 miles-per-hour when he reached over to grab Rodriguez’s phone to see if she was texting another man and lost control of the vehicle.
On Tuesday, cash bond was set at $25,000.
Mateo is due back in court June 15.
