GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Prosecutors say the 17-year-old accused of causing a double fatal crash in Brown County told deputies he was “smoking dope” that night.
“Devon Robley had admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the crash and then he admitted to driving about 70 miles per hour.”
On Wednesday, Robley appeared in Brown County Circuit Court for a probable cause hearing.
The crash Monday night killed 2 people and injured 3 others. Robley was allegedly behind the wheel when he blew through a stop sign on Glenmore Road at County Highway X and slammed into an SUV driving west.
His attorney spoke in court via video.
“This appears to be a very tragic accident and what the state is going to say that if there is an amount of THC in his blood, that’s what caused it. Where in fact we don’t know and it could be a very low amount.”
Robley was jailed on two recommended counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
Bond for Robley was set at $20,000 by the court commissioner and he’s due back in court July 27.
