The Milwaukee Brewers got another encouraging performance from a rookie pitcher as they salvaged the final game of a their series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field Wednesday night. Zach Davies got the win, pitching six shutout innings, allowing only two hits in the 4-1 victory. Martin Maldanado drove in a pair of runs for Milwaukee and Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 35th save. Kyle Hendricks took the loss for the Cubs who got a solo home run from Jorge Solaro to avoid the shutout. The loss drops the Cubs seven games behind division leading St. Louis. The Brewers (64-88) have 10 games remaining and they head to Busch Stadium for a four game series beginning Thursday night. Taylor Jungman will face Michael Wacha in the opener.
