GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The phoenixes of UW-Green Bay are burning their previous enrollment records.
Unofficial enrollment figures show 8,098 students on the Green Bay campus for the Fall 2019 semester. That’s a 9.7% increase over last year. When adding in the Marinette, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan campuses, the total enrollment reaches 8,873.
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Michael Alexander points to the university’s relationships with local high schools and businesses for that growth.
Alexander says “we continue to grow in enrollment, and I think it’s largely, again, because we’re really working to make sure that we’re relevant and connect to the community we serve.”
The school also reports a doubling in underrepresented populations on campus.
UW-Green Bay plans to invest in more programs to meet regional demand in environmental studies, teacher preparation, STEM education, and workforce development within the next year as well.
When adding in the Marinette, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan campuses, the total enrollment reaches 8,873. The university’s goal is to reach about a 10,000 student plateau.
