MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Madison Mallards announced Tuesday they will end their long standing partnership with Chick-fil-A Restaurants.
They issued a statement saying: “For nineteen years, the Mallards have prided ourselves on building an experience focused on fun and inclusion while working hard to stay away from the sometimes negative energy that can surround day-to-day life around us.” A post on the team’s Facebook page said, “In that spirit, today we are announcing that we are ending our relationship with Chick-fil-A.”
The Mallards say Chick-fil-A supports anti-LGBTQ organizations.
The statement also said: “We made a mistake not realizing the negative impact of our decision and the people this would offend and for that, we sincerely apologize… For the record, we are and always have been supportive of everyone’s lifestyle and we support our LGBTQ friends without question.”
The Chick-fil-A chain hasn’t commented.
