MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Governor Tony Evers has ordered flags in Wisconsin to fly at half-staff in honor of Appleton Firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard who died after being shot while on duty this week.
In the Proclamation, Evers recognized Lundgaard for his 14 years of service to the Appleton Fire Department and Appleton community. He recognized him as a husband and as a father of three young children.
Governor Evers ordered that U.S flags and Wisconsin flags be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds and military installations beginning immediately and ending at sunset of the date of his interment.
The Governor issued a tweet about the order.
“Today, I ordered flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Appleton Fire Department firefighter Mitchell F. Lundgaard who died in the line of duty Wednesday. I join the Fox River Valley and people across our state in mourning the loss of a life dedicated to public service.”
