MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg opened a campaign office in Milwaukee over the weekend.
The Democrat held a rally at 1st Street and Pittsburgh Avenue on Saturday where he told supporters “I think Wisconsin understands that they are one of the keys to making sure that Donald Trump is not our president for the next four years. I hope to present an alternative.”
The former Mayor has been running TV ads in Wisconsin for several weeks looking to gain a foothold in the Badger state.
The latest polls show just 3% of likely Democratic voters call him their first choice. That’s well off the pace being set by former Vice President Joe Biden at 23%.
Bloomberg was a late entrant into the crowded Democratic field, announcing his candidacy back in November.
Wisconsin has been called a swing state in the 2020 Presidential election.
