ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – President Donald Trump will be making a stop in Ashwaubenon at the end of the month.
The Trump Re-election campaign released information Tuesday that the event will be held April 27 at the Resch Center, the same day as the annual White House Correspondents’ dinner.
The President has decided to skip the annual event in Washington, saying he would rather hold a positive rally.
Registrations for the event will be limited to two tickets per mobile number. Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis. Those interested in attending can register at the Trump campaign website.
The event will start at 7:00 PM and the doors will open at 4:00 PM.
Local Republican leaders are expecting the event to be packed and to provide an electric atmosphere.
“The Resch Center seats about 8,500 people [and] we’ve filled it in the past; we’ll fill it again,” says James Fitzgerald, chair of the Brown County Republican Party. “There will be an overflow area, I’m sure.”
He adds that the event will be important for the President to continue momentum in the state following the 2016 presidential election.
“He’s excited to come back to Wisconsin, a state that delivered for him in 2016, and he’s excited to re-engage with the Green Bay community and the surrounding area,” says Fitzgerald.
Not everyone feels the same excitement, though.
Lindsay Dorff, Brown County Democratic Party Chairwoman, says President Trump may have some explaining to do in order to satisfy some remorseful voters.
“All of those people in Wisconsin that thought that they might want to shake things up or just make the change vote last time, they don’t have a lot of substance to back up that Trump is a changed candidate,” she explains.
Dorff adds that many might not have the same enthusiasm as they did a few years ago.
“I think that after looking at the past two-and-a-half years they can see that they didn’t get change, all they got was failed promises,” she says.
The Ashwaubenon event comes nearly six months to the day after POTUS 45’s last stop in Wisconsin, which was on October 24th at the Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee. There the President rallied support for Republican candidates Sean Duffy, Leah Vukmir, and Scott Walker ahead of the November mid-term election.
