There are ties between the China virus pandemic and the protests/riots we've seen in the wake of George Floyd's inexcusable death at the hands of four Minneapolis Police officers.
In recent months, various authoritarian governors of both major parties have handed down unconstitutional orders in their respective states.
These orders, in addition to violating the Constitutional rights of the entire law-abiding population, have crippled these states' economies, forcing countless small business owners and workers into financial hardship.
Not surprisingly, many opposed these infringements on their basic rights and freedoms. In some cases, including in the state of Michigan, those folks peacefully protested against their respective governor's 'safer/stay at home' order.
Those peaceful protests against the 'safer at home' orders were not met kindly by various leftist governors who handed down such orders, including Michigan's Gretchen Whitmer.
Whitmer, like Wisconsin Democrat Governor Tony Evers, claimed that it was unsafe to peacefully protest 'safer/stay at home,' due to the current pandemic. Evers even denied the permit for a peaceful Madison rally against 'safer at home' for that reason.
But now, Whitmer and Evers are among the Democrat politicians who are voicing support for the protests that are taking place in the aftermath of the George Floyd killing.
What's interesting is we are still in the midst of the same pandemic that we were in when these 'safer at home' protests were taking place.
So how is it that Whitmer and Evers can encourage one protest while discouraging the other for public health purposes when both are large gatherings that could expose people to the same illness?
Clearly, Whitmer and Evers are employing a double standard. They're saying that protests that they perceive as politically advantageous are fine while trying to suppress protests that they see as politically harmful. In reality, peaceful protests in both instances are equally protected by the Constitution.
“The John Muir Show” and others have pointed out this hypocrisy. And it seems that the pressure has finally gotten to Gretchen Whitmer.
Yesterday, Whitmer announced that she was making changes to Michigan's 'stay at home' order, effective June 8. Whitmer's mainstream media allies are portraying this as 'Whitmer is reopening Michigan.'
However, that media sentiment is only true to a certain extent. Whitmer is not fully reopening Michigan. Various businesses are still not allowed to open for at least several weeks.
What Whitmer is doing is making it seem like she is being reasonable, opening up some businesses to avoid being called out for condoning large public gatherings during a pandemic while not condoning small business operation during said pandemic.
However, Whitmer is still refusing to allow all businesses to open because she is hell-bent on holding on to at least some semblance of her authoritarian control over constituents' lives.
Whitmer went on a power grab and, to this day, she refuses to end the power grab, even though it continues to harm and ruin more and more Michigan residents each week.
People like Gretchen Whitmer and Tony Evers are basing some of their most important decisions off of what is politically advantageous for themselves, not on what is best for their respective states and the law-abiding, taxpaying populations of those states.
Such people should not remain in power after such blatant and consequential failures. They must be recalled by the voters.
Also, it will be very interesting to see if various leftists attribute any potential increase in the number of China virus cases following these protests and riots they're endorsing during the pandemic to the protests and riots, after having warned about the threat that Wisconsin's April 7 election's in-person voting could have on the Wuhan virus case total.
A wave of new cases was not reported in Wisconsin following election day. Hopefully it's the same story following the current protests and riots. Only time will tell what happens on this front.
However, for consistency's sake, the leftists who warned of a spike in the number of cases after election day should also be warning of a spike in the number of cases due to the protests and riots. To their credit, some are. But others are not, showing that pushing a desired narrative is far more important to those people/outlets than consistency. Shame on them.
